What is algebra and why is it important?

Algebra is a branch of mathematics that uses symbols, usually letters, to represent unknown numbers or values. It helps us describe relationships between quantities and solve problems involving those unknowns. Algebra is important because it builds a strong foundation for higher-level math and real-life problem-solving. It is used in science, engineering, economics, and everyday situations like budgeting, cooking, or planning travel. Learning algebra teaches logic, reasoning, and critical thinking, which are valuable in both academic and daily life situations.
